Onyx is a multilayered stone and we saw our group as multilayered and variably colored in our enthusiasms and our attitudes toward architecture, art and design. We hoped what we would have the persistence of stone. Onyx is often quite beautiful and we strove to create work that embodied beauty. We saw the "O" as "Oh!", the "NY" as where we were and the "X" as the unknown, where were we going? That's why ONYX . . .
